CANDLEMASS To Begin Mixing New Album This Week

January 25, 2005

Reunited Swedish doomsters CANDLEMASS are completing the recording sessions for their new, self-titled album at Polar studios (ABBA, GENESIS, LED ZEPPELIN) in Stockholm, Sweden for a May 2 release through Nuclear Blast Records. "Messiah [Marcolin] just finished his vocal tracks this weekend and I'm working with some keyboards right now," bassist/main songwriter Leif Edling told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "We'll start the mix on Friday [Jan. 28]."

As previously reported, songtitles set to appear on the CD — which will be musically similar to the group's classic "Tales of Creation" and "Nightfall" albums — include "Black Dwarf", "Witches" and "Spellbreaker".

CANDLEMASS recently released a compilation CD, entitled "Essential Doom", containing the group's best material plus a demo version of a previously unreleased song "Witches" (a re-recorded version of which is expected to show up on the new album). The album comes with a bonus DVD featuring video footage of the band's performance at the Rock Hard Festival in Germany in 2003.
